What I Spend In A Month | June 2025

by

Hi! Here’s everything I spent in June as a childless, middle-aged woman living in Athens, Georgia:

  • I paid $760 for my basement apartment which I lovingly call the Lair. This covers rent, utilities and internet. I also bought some cleaning supplies this month.
  • Healthcare came to $279. This is anything connected to my doctor, dentist (including dental hygiene needs at home), therapist, or medications (including over-the-counter medications and basic skincare)
  • I spent $46 on transportation – just gas and a car wash
  • $162 on my cat, Agent Cooper

  • My groceries came to $221. It’s too far back for me to remember what I got but these were my shopping trips. This was my highest month for groceries so far because I baked two lasagnas for friends in mourning or undergoing treatment:
    • Walmart $9
    • Walmart $64
    • Aldi $26
    • Ingles $7
    • Sam’s Club $41
    • Trader Joe’s $30
    • Kroger $44
  • Eating/drinking out came to $116. This was dinner with an out-of-town friend, lunch with the Bubble Cafe crew, drinks out a couple times, fast food on the way home from a long hike, and ice cream for myself and a friend on her birthday.
  • $63 for cloud storage and Adobe software.
  • $41 on shopping. I printed some art out, renewed this blog’s domain, and got a belt at an estate sale
  • $26 on entertainment. That’s watching three movies in theaters. (If you can’t tell, I love going to the movies!)
  • $416 on travel. I camped at Tallulah, biked and hiked there and Black Rock Mountain. Then booked a flight to visit my mom for Labor Day weekend.

  • Nothing for my phone this month because I pay that bill once a year.
  • I currently do not have any paid subscriptions and I no longer have student loans.

That brings my total expenses to $2,130.

I made $2,527. That’s $2,483 from work and $44 from cash back.

The margin is slim, but this was the first month where I could see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of paying down my credit card. I’ve also been putting away a minimum of $100 a month into my Roth IRA.
